Urban F. Schulze, 82, of Russia, died May 17, 2007, at Versailles Health Care Center.

He was born Nov. 12, 1924, in Fort Loramie, to Robert J. and Helen B. Schlater Schulze. On Oct. 19, 1949, he married Thelma E. Seger, who survives.

Also surviving are six sons, Daniel (Louise), Troy, Richard (Cindy), Russia, Ronald (Vicky), Fort Loramie, Robert (Maria), Anna, Mark (Jill), Anna, and Gregory (Rebecca), Versailles; four daughters, Ann (Donald) Hulsmeyer, Botkins, Susan (Mark) Hoying, Fort Loramie, Patricia (Kent) Monnin, Versailles, and Laura (Rick) Evers, St. Henry; two brothers, Albert (Mary Lou) and Ralph (Rita) , Russia; five sisters, Hilda Battson, Sidney, Mary Magoteaux, Versailles, Norma (Carl) Middendorf and Luella (Ronald) Albers, of Fort Loramie, and Dianne (Earl) Winner, Minster; a brother-in-law, Richard Frantz, Versailles; a sister-in-law, Betty Schulze, Versailles; 31 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Deceased are two brothers, Clarence and Paul; two sisters, Vera Bemus and Helen Frantz; three brothers-in-law, Jack Bemus, James Battson and Lowell Magoteaux; and two sisters-in-law, Helen and Trudy.

He was a farmer, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, was a member of St. Remy Catholic Church, Russia, where he was in the choir and a CCD teacher, was a past member of St. Remy Catholic War Veterans Post 661 and Knights of Columbus Council 3890, and he also served on Russia School Board, Shelby County Farm Service Agency board and Russia & Swanders Elevator board.

Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church, the Rev. Frank Amberger officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.

Calling is 2-8 p.m. Monday and 9-9:45 a.m. Tuesday at Gehret Funeral Home, Fort Loramie. Prayer service will be at 8 p.m. at the funeral home performed by the K of C.
