Celina native Frederic O. Grimm, 72, of Mount Vernon, died Oct. 30, 2009, at Knox Community Hospital, Mount Vernon.

He was born Jan. 15, 1937, in Celina to Otto A. and Melva M. Kincaid Grimm. His wife, Lynn Gardner Grimm, survives.

Other survivors are a daughter, Alisa A. (Kenneth) Stoll, Columbus; two sons, the Rev. Brian L. (Missy) Grimm, Warren, Pa., and Chad C. (Kathryn) Grimm, Buckhannon, W.Va.; a sister, Rosalyn I. Hill, Marble Falls, Texas; a sister-in-law, Barbara Grimm, Findlay; and six grandchildren.

Deceased are two brothers, Donald C. and Samuel L. Grimm.

He was a school teacher for 28 years and taught at Chesterville, Mount Vernon and Elyria City Schools, where he retired. A Celina High School and Ohio State University graduate, he also was employed 19 years as an examiner for the Federal Civil Service Commission. He worked for the city of Mount Vernon for four years and professionally prepared taxes for H&R Block for 10 years.

He was past president of the LaGrange, Ohio Lions Club and the Knox County Retired Teachers. He was a member of Mount Vernon First Church of the Nazarene and an associate member of Port Charlotte Nazarene Church, Fla. He served eight years as clerk treasurer of LaGrange and two years as clerk of LaGrange Township. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and an avid bridge player, achieving the rank of Bronze Life Master in the American Contract Bridge League.

Services are 11 a.m. Monday at the church, with military honors to follow by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council. Burial is at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Woodlawn Cemetery, Lima.
