Harold Fry
Harold C. "Butch" Fry, 88, formerly of 514 Hines Drive, St. Marys, and a resident of Otterbein St. Marys Retirement Community, died at 3:15 p.m. Jan. 20, at Otterbein.
He was born Feb. 28, 1921, in Buckland, to Ralph and Emma Seitz Fry. On Sept. 19, 1946, he married Helen Elsea, who died Feb. 8, 2000.
Surviving are a companion, Dotti Stahl, St. Marys; his children, Arlen "Jake" (Kathy) Fry, Louis (Sue) Fry, and Martha "Marty" (William) Wisener, all of St. Marys, Brenda (Michael) Fishbaugh, Celina, and Sandie (James) Wieman, New Bremen; a daughter-in-law, Sandra S. Fry, Greenville; a son-in-law, Dennis Wenning, Celina; a brother, Norman (Erlene) Fry, Derby, Kan.; 16 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a daughter, Tana Wenning; a son, Lee Fry; two brothers, Robert and Paul Fry; a grandson and a granddaughter.
He retired from the St. Marys Foundry as a foreman and later worked at Beckett's Sohio station. He was a 1939 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School and was a member of the Roughriders basketball team. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, St. Marys, the American Legion and VFW, St. Marys, and the Wapakoneta Disabled American Veterans.
Services are 11 a.m. Monday, at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, his grandson, the Rev. Jimmy Sweigart officiating. Burial with military honors conducted by the American Legion and VFW is at Resthaven Memory Gardens near St. Marys.
Calling is 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
