Arthur Reed
Arthur R. Reed, 81, Celina, died Oct. 16, 2012 at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
He was born Apr. 16, 1931, in Trenton, to Oscar "Gibby" and Effie Mount Reed.
Also surviving are four sons, Larry (Cindy) Reed, Terry Reed and Douglas Reed, all of Middletown, and Phillip Reed, Bear, Del.; four sisters, Bertha Hill, Florida, Dorothy Jackson and Johana Reed, both of Middletown, and Janet Reed, Fairfield; three brothers, Oscar Reed, Middletown, Walter Reed, Trenton, and Harold Reed, Florida; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a sister, Mattie Haag, and two brothers, Floyd and Louis Reed.
He served in the Artillery Unit with the U.S. Army during the Korean War and belonged to American Legion Post 323, St. Marys. He also was a member of the Lake Improvement Association. He worked as a supervisor with Armco Steel, Middletown, and as a policeman with the Trenton police department.
Funeral services are 1 p.m. Friday at Miltonville Baptist Church, Middletown, the Rev. Jessie Combs officiating. Burial will follow in Miltonville Cemetery.
Calling is 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Gilbert-Hartwig Funeral Home, New Bremen, and 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Friday at the church.
Memorials may be given to Grand Lake Hospice or the Mercer County Cancer Association.
